Applying for a Voter ID Online

1. Visit the Official Election Commission Website: Go to the official website of the Election Commission of India at
2. Register as a New User: If you are a new user, you will need to register on the website. Provide your mobile number, email address, and create a password to create an account.
3. Log in: Once registered, log in to your account using your credentials.
4. Select “Apply Online for Registration of New Voter”: Look for the option to apply online for the registration of a new voter ID card. Click on it to begin the application process.
5. Fill in Form 6: Form 6 is the application form for new voter registration. Fill in all the required details accurately. This includes your personal information, address, date of birth, etc.
6. Upload Documents: You’ll need to upload scanned copies of documents such as a passport-sized photograph, proof of age (birth certificate, school certificate, etc.), and proof of residence (utility bills, rent agreement, etc.). Make sure the documents are clear and legible.
7. Submit the Form: Once you’ve filled in the form and uploaded the required documents, review the information to ensure accuracy. Then, submit the form.
8. Receive Application ID: After successfully submitting the form, you will receive an Application ID. Note this down for future reference.
9. Verification Process: The election office will review your application and may send a Booth Level Officer (BLO) for verification of the provided details.
10. Check Application Status: You can check the status of your application online using the Application ID. The website will provide updates on the processing of your Voter ID application.
11. Receive Voter ID: Once your application is approved, you will receive your Voter ID card by mail to the address provided in the application.
